Japan’s new three major night view cities
Kitakyushu City

At the “Night View Summit” held at the Kitakyushu International Conference Center on December 17, 2024, the “New Top Three Night View Cities in Japan” were announced, determined by a vote of approximately 6,610 night view experts from across the country, and Kitakyushu City was re-certified as the number one city in the “New Top Three Night View Cities in Japan”! This is the third time that Kitakyushu City has been certified, following its certification in 2022.

Kitakyushu City has a wide variety of night view tourism resources, with seven “Japan Night View Heritage Sites” including “Sarakurayama,” “Takatoyama Park,” “Adachi Park,” “Mojiko Retro Observation Room,” “Kokura Illumination,” “Tobata Gion Oyamakasa,” and “Mekari Park Second Observation Deck.” In addition, since being certified in 2018, the city has promoted itself nationwide as a city with night view tourism by carrying out various initiatives, such as lighting up historical buildings such as “Kokura Castle,” “Mojiko Station,” and “Wakato Bridge,” as well as the “Kokura Castle Bamboo Lanterns” project run by citizens.
